TRAINING: Every day of the week is laid out different for me, but I always train 2 sessions a day 6 days a week. 1 session at 10am-12pm and the second at 6pm-8pm.  Sessions range from strength and conditioning to boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling and BJJ.
Thoughts on opponent, Vik Grujic? Vik seemed like a good stand-up guy on the TUF show.  He is a father, as I am as well, so I have a lot of respect for him.  I watched his season a lot because my team mate Chad Laprise was on that season and won it.  As for his fighting abilities, I don't make assessments of my opponents anymore because I just want to assume they are great at everything so I prepare for someone that is great at everything.  I've made the mistake of underestimating my opponent before and I won't do it again.

When and why did you start training for fighting? Since the very first UFC I always wanted to fight in the UFC, but didn’t start MMA till I was 26. I always did different martial arts and boxing. But 10 years ago, MMA and BJJ gyms were hard to come by.

Ranks in any martial arts styles: I am a black belt in taekwondo and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Do you have any heroes? I have people I respect for their accomplishments but no heroes.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
To fight in the UFC is the one accomplishment that I am most proud of in my life. It was my dream. I earned it and never gave up on it. I had a long road to get here. The harder the mountain is to climb, the better you feel once you reach the top.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I went to college to become a fitness trainer. I never finished my degree, but I am a trainer now.

What was your job before you started fighting? I worked in a factory building transport trucks

Ranks in any martial arts styles: I am a black belt in taekwondo.

Favorite grappling technique: Every choke. Can't breathe. Can't fight

Favorite Striking technique: Elbow

  • All but one of his pro wins have come by knockout

  • Loss to Thompson broke six fight unbeaten streak that included knockouts of Jonathan Goulet and Rich Clementi

  • Has also faced Rory Markham, Jesse Bongfeldt, and John Alessio

  • Origin of nickname: “My last name is Clements so most of my life my friends always short formed it into Mency, so when I met Shawn Tompkins he thought all my equipment had Menace written on it. So he started calling me “Menace” and it stuck.”
