DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY OF TRAINING: Tough and sweaty
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in my mother’s womb, then when I was born I was the mascot of my brother & sister’s Judo team. I trained in a few arts then, and had an interest in music in my mid teens. Got back into martial arts because I felt a calling (back to my roots, if you will) I train and fight because it is a true expression of oneself.
What ranks and titles have you held? I hold an instructor level in combat submission wrestling under Erik Paulson. I have a Purple belt under Ze Marcello in BJJ. I have a black belt in karate. I have a black belt in tie my shoe and I am the founder of Dave Can Do.
Do you have any heroes? None
What is your favorite technique? Whatever ends the fight
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Woo Wee, I have dreamt it, but I never thought I'd get a chance. Thanks to my manager Daniel Cox and UFC's Joe Silva this is the biggest opportunity for me and one I fully want to embrace.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Sorry, I left school ASAP to follow a music career. But I have since been further educated in the practical arts of Nutrition, massage therapy and exercise kinesiology with the CHEK institute and others.
What was your job before you started fighting? Exercise, nutrition, lifestyle, martial arts coach and massage therapist.
