Biography
Training: I train two times a day morning and night. In the mornings I get my conditioning done and in the evenings I train to be a ninja.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training when I was 15 years old. Me and my older brother were wrestling in the house too much and mom didn't like that. So he got me into Jiu-jitsu first, then that led me to wrestling, and after high school I started picking away at my standup. It’s been a long process, but of course I did all the things kids do while growing up and wasn't always so dedicated to training.
Do you have any heroes? It’s gonna sound cliche..but of course Randy Couture! I have been a huge fan ever since I rented UFC 13
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? I am stoked! The UFC is the top dog in MMA. It’s every fighter’s dream to fight in the UFC.
What was your job before you started fighting? I was working construction. Long days.
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? I was a multiple time provincial wrestling champion in 2001, 2002 and 2004. I also represented Nova Scotia at the 2001 Canada games in London, Ontario. Competed in and won several submission grappling and jiu-jitsu tournaments in eastern Canada.
Ranks in any martial arts styles: I am a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Favorite grappling technique: Arm Bar
Favorite Striking technique: Knees
