Biography

Matt Grice may only have three UFC fights under his belt, but each one – against Terry Etim, Jason Black, and Matt Veach – has been memorable for its all-out action and intensity. To most, that would be a hard act to repeat, but for the Oklahoma native, winner of 10 out of 12 pro fights, putting on exciting performances is just part of his night job. As for his day job, Grice is currently a member of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

When and why did you start training for fighting?
I started training after I graduated college in May of 2005.  I have always enjoyed competition and loved the sport of mixed martial arts so this is just another way to test my abilities.

What ranks and titles have you held?
In wrestling I was a four-time Oklahoma state champion and three-time outstanding wrestler, 2nd in H.S. nationals in 2000.  Went to the University of Oklahoma on a wrestling scholarship but was plagued with injuries throughout my career there.

Do you have any heroes?
My Mom and Dad

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
The first time I saw the UFC I think I was in the sixth grade, and from that point on I knew that one day I wanted to fight for them.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I went to the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelors degree in sociology.

What was your job before you started fighting?
I was pursuing becoming a firefighter or police officer.
