Biography
Training: My training for this fight is much like all the others... I’m always training to be prepared for all aspects of the fight. A typical day starts in the morning. I´ll either have a sparring session or do padwork & drills with my striking coaches, followed by wrestling practice. I rest all afternoon and return to training at night. Some nights its strength & conditioning training, others it’s BJJ practice.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I wrestled through high school and college. I always had an interest in MMA since the first UFC. About two years after I graduated college I still had the urge to compete so I started training BJJ & Boxing. I took my first fight within six months in February 2004.
What ranks and titles have you held? BJJ Purple Belt. Reality Fighting Light-Heavyweight Champion
Do you have any heroes? Arnold Schwarzenegger
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means everything to me. It’s all of my hard work, dedication, discipline and sacrifice coming to fruition after almost 7 years. It’s an opportunity for me to make a name for myself among the elite.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to Hofstra University and earned a BA in Communications. I majored in Film Studies and Production.
What was your job before you started fighting? Fitness Manager & Personal Trainer for New York Sports Clubs
Ranks in any martial arts styles: Division I Wrestler at Hofstra University, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt
Favorite grappling technique: The one that wins the fight
Favorite Striking technique: The one that floors my opponent
