ESPN celebrates first ever UFC HD event with 8-hour Marathon

ESPN is today delighted to confirm that eagerly anticipated Ultimate Fighting Championship event, UFC 102: Couture v Nogueira, will be broadcast live and exclusive in High Definition for the first time ever in the UK to ESPN subscribers on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms. The event, also being broadcast in Standard Definition, is scheduled to begin at 3am on Sunday 30 August live from Portland, Oregon in the USA.

The event, also being broadcast in Standard Definition, is scheduled to begin at 3am on Sunday 30 August live from Portland, Oregon in the USA.

UFC 102 sees legendary heavyweights Randy “The Natural” Couture and Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira top the bill in what is sure to be an edge-of-the-seat encounter. Still competing at a staggering age of 46, Couture, a former three-time UFC heavyweight champion and two-time UFC light-heavyweight champion will face legendary grappler Nogueira, who is also a former two-time heavyweight world champion.

To mark the event, ESPN has dedicated their schedule from 10pm on Saturday 29 August to the UFC with five hours of uninterrupted coverage as the countdown to UFC 102 begins. The action starts with an hour-long Countdown to the main event followed by episodes of UFC Unleashed, All Access and The Ultimate Fighter, see below for full programming details.

Saturday 10pm - UFC 102 Countdown

Saturday 11pm - UFC Unleashed
A furiously paced showcase of the greatest fights in UFC history, giving you the chance to catch up with the legendary pioneers of mixed martial arts and the latest combatants.

Midnight - UFC All Access
Playboy cover girl Rachelle Leah visits Wanderlei Silva at his Las Vegas training base, and witnesses one of the most intense workout regimes in all of mixed martial arts.

Sunday 00:30AM - UFC All Access
The most successful UFC fighter of all time, Anderson Silva is visited by our host and Playboy cover girl Rachelle Leah in Brazil to get closer to the man known as 'The Spider'.

Sunday 1am - UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 9
Reality TV collides with combat sport, as 16 of the best up-and-coming martial artists are selected to fight for a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Sunday 2am - UFC 102 Countdown
