Gastelum, Sanchez Get Call for Mexico City Bouts

The card for the UFC’s return to Mexico City on November 5 continues to build, as two more compelling matchups have been added to the show at Arena Ciudad de Mexico.

In the welterweight division, No. 5-ranked contender Kelvin Gastelum faces veteran battler Jorge Masvidal. Plus, lightweight star Diego Sanchez takes on highly-regarded UFC newcomer Marcin Held.

In the UFC Fight Night main event, which airs live on FOX Sports 1, Tony Ferguson battles former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos.

Winner of season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter, Kelvin Gastelum has evolved into a world title threat at 170 pounds, with his most recent victory over former UFC champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 200 in July stamping him as one of the division’s top contenders. On November 5, Gastelum will face a crafty veteran in Jorge Masvidal, who is coming off a decision win over Ross Pearson last month at UFC 201.

Owner of a 1-1 record in his return to the lightweight division, former Ultimate Fighter winner Diego Sanchez remains one of the most popular fighters to ever grace the Octagon. In 24-year-old Poland native Held, Sanchez will be facing a leg lock master who has won seven of his last eight leading up to his Octagon debut this November.
