Mayday McDonald Returns in January

Sidelined by injuries since a December 2013 loss to Urijah Faber, former bantamweight title challenger Michael "Mayday" McDonald will finally return to active duty when he faces Japan's Masanori Kanehara at UFC 195 in Las Vegas's MGM Grand Garden Arena on January 2.

Tickets for UFC 195, which is headlined by the UFC welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit, are on sale now.

The 24-year-old McDonald may have lost the last two years due to injury, but with a clean bill of health, he's eager to regain the form that saw him defeat the likes of Chris Cariaso, Brad Pickett and Miguel Angel Torres while also earning a shot at then-champion Renan Barao's title in 2013. The veteran Kanehara has won seven of his last nine bouts, including a victory over Alex Caceres in his UFC debut in 2014.
