Northcutt's star burns brighter after Norfolk win

An 11-month layoff and a switch to Team Alpha Male seemed to suit Sage Northcutt beautifully. During the Fight Night Norfolk prelims, the Texas native controlled nearly the entire bout against Michel Quinones with a mixture of patience and precision, a development he attributes 100% to his new teammates and his last three months of training. If this is what three months looked like, he mused from The Octagon following the win, “…I can’t wait to see what six months looks like, or a year looks like. I’m looking forward to the future.”

He dropped into the UFC Unfiltered podcast to discuss a number of topics, including getting connected with Uriah Faber (or as Northcutt respectfully calls him, “Mr. Faber”):

Northcutt’s allure extends far outside The Octagon in a way rare to most of the roster, and he has made it heard that he would love to play Ivan Drago’s son in Creed 2. From the outside looking in, it seems to be one of the most obvious casting decisions of all time. He discusses:

Relentlessly positive and upbeat, Northcutt used his Norfolk Octagaon interview following his win to tell the audience to keep their hopes up “whatever kinds of problems you might be going through, if you’re having a hard time at work, maybe with your family…you can overcome that!” Judging by the reaction of the crowd in attendance and the eruption of online love, his message might just be resonating.
