Main event: Daniel Cormier successfully defends his light heavyweight title over Alexander Gustafsson by split decision
It was a war between Cormier and Gustafsson. The judges were split in their decision with one judge seeing it 48-47 for Gustafsson and the other two seeing it Cormier’s way (48-47, 49-46)

Daniel Cormier: “He made me better. Thank you, Alexander Gustafsson. You made me a better man and fighter tonight.
I talk a lot. It's my job to sell these fights. But I expected that Alex. I expected that warrior and a guy I left part of myself in this Octagon with. I just wanted to prove I wasn't one dimensional and I can stand with the best strikers in the world. Every time I hit him, he stopped moving, he just held on to me. If you make a striker try to wrestle with you, you're doing a damn good job.”
Alexander Gustafsson: “He can strike and he’s a good boxer and standup guy. He’s the champ. Thank you, Houston.”

Co-main: Ryan Bader defeats Rashad Evans by unanimous decision
Evans threw some good shots, but Bader was dominant throughout the fight and easily won via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
They said it:
Ryan Bader: “People keep doubting me and calling me the ‘easiest fight in the division”, but I keep running through them. My mentality is different I decided I wanted to be the champion of this sport and that's what's driving me. I was usually just focusing on boxing, but I've been working on being more agile on the feet and getting better. I'm hitting my stride and getting better and better. Rashad was calling me an easy fight, and no disrespect to him, but I got through him. DC was calling me out, so I’m ready for him to beat Alexander and then I want to fight DC.”
Rashad Evans: “I was a little slow and my timing was off. I was never hurt by anything he threw, but I couldn’t get the range down and my timing was bugging me a bit. I didn’t continue to hunt after him and I missed it. I didn’t capitalize on the pressure I was putting on him. I’m going back in the gym, that what I miss is the gym. Doing it over and over, getting my reps in. I have to get back to training now that I have confidence in my knee and I know I can push it. I’ll be back in the gym and better the next time.”

Ruslan Magomedov defeats Shawn Jordan by unanimous decision
The scorecards make it sound like an easy fight – it was anything but. The bout went the distance, Magomedov took all three judges’ cards (30-27, 30-27, 29-28), but both leave worse for wear as a result of this war.

Ruslan Magomedov: “It was a great fight. This is my dream come true. Of course training with DC and Cain, they're the best in the world and they've really helped me become a complete mixed martial artist. I want whatever gets me to the title. I know Cain will get his belt back, he's my friend so I will fight anyone but Cain.”

Joe Benavidez defeats Ali Bagautinov by unanimous decision
Benavidez controlled the fight throughout, winning by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Joe Benavidez: “It was nice to play the boxer more and move around. The guy is tough and it’s like running into a mountain. I came in here and beat a world class guy. This isn't as exciting of a fight that people are used to. I'll be looking really nice when I get married in six days to the woman of my dreams. I didn't think his distance was going to be that good and he was a lot harder to take down. The guy is world class. This division is great, the champion is one of the best in the world and it keeps me pushing harder in the gym. I'm working hard every day and I'm working my way back up there.”

Juliana Pena defeats Jessica Eye by unanimous decision
A point deduction against Jessica Eye for an illegal knee in the second round didn’t cost her the fight, but it changed the scorecards. Pena won by unanimous decision with all three judges scoring it 29-27.

Julianna Pena: “Jessica eye is very respectful and skilled opponent. I'm happy I got the win tonight. I’m 6-0 in the Octagon and so is Ronda Rousey. Dana White keeps calling her Mike Tyson, well, I’m Evander Holyfield.
Jessica was really tough. She was a lot heavier on top than I anticipated. I thought she was going to be a little better on the ground. When she was on top she just held the position and didn't really do too much. [Illegal knee] It is what it is, I don't make the rules but I know it was illegal and it dazed me a bit. It was down to who had more heart and that was me. Hopefully, we'll be talking about a title shot here in the near future, or I’m in the wrong business. I was disappointed I couldn't finish the rear naked choke but I’m happy with the win.”
Jessica Eye: “I thought it was a split decision. I don’t know why he took away the point in the second round, it was accidental and that wasn’t anything that was discussed backstage. Unfortunately I didn’t come out victorious again, so I think I need to reevaluate some things in my life.”

Yair Rodriguez defeats Daniel Hooker by unanimous decision
It was a tough fight for both, but Rodriguez was ahead throughout and won by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
They said it:
Yair Rodriguez: “I knew in the first round that I was hurt, but I didn’t say anything because when you’re a fighter, you cannot be weak. I was trying to just tell myself: ‘Don’t look down, don’t look down’, because I knew it was bad. I told my coach and he just told me not to look at it and to keep fighting hard and to push deep. And that’s what I tried to do. I just pushed through the pain in the third round. When I tried to take him down, I knew he was pretty good, so I was very careful. This guy was pretty tough in threre. I tried to throw some punches and short elbows, but he punched me really hard.”

Albert Tumenov defeats Alan Jouban by KO
The two were exchanging blows early, but a great kick by Tumenov followed by a flurry of punches at 2:55 of the first round earned him the KO victory.

Albert Tumenov: “This is not my best performance, my next fight will be my best performance. Please give me someone from the Top 15. What you train for over and over in the gym becomes muscle memory. This is what we've been doing and practicing for. I always try to put on an exciting show and we worked hard for this.”

Adriano Martins defeats Islam Makhachev by KO 
Martins caught Makhachev perfectly with a right hook, knocking him down for the quick KO.

Adriano Martins: “I worked hard for this. I didn’t think it was going to go that fast, but I worked hard to finish the fight either with a knockout or submission. I want to fight a Top 10 guy and I want to fight as soon as possible.”
Islam Makhachev: “I made a mistake and go caught. The ref stopped it a little early, I was fine. God won this.”

Rose Namajunas submits Angela Hill
The fight started slowly, but Namajunas jumped on the back of her Ultimate Fighter teammate Hill and got a submission victory via rear naked choke 2:47 into the 1st round.

Rose Namajunas: “I didn't want to go for the submission too fast and fall over. Patience was the key in this fight. We've been working my jiu jitsu a lot, I've got great coaches who have helped me get to this point. The rest of division doesn't matter to me, it's only who's standing in front of me that I'm thinking about, so whoever is next, come get it.
I also want to thank Angela Hill for taking the fight, she was my friend in the house and I know that always makes it tough.”

Sage Northcutt defeats Francisco Trevino by TKO
Northcutt lived up to the hype. He knocked Trevino down and then pounced, winning his UFC debut in just 57 seconds.

Sage Northcutt: “This feels amazing, it’s such an honor to be here. The crowd, everyone around the UFC, were all amazing and this was just an incredible experience. I've been training for this since I was four years old.
The fight went just how I visualized it. I thought about throwing kicks to kind of intimidate him and see what he was going to do. I caught him and just followed up with some elbows. People see a lot of my standup, and that’s what I’m known for since I was trained in karate and kickboxing, but I also have ground game. I want to fight again as soon as I possibly can. I know there's a card in Australia and South Korea – either of those would be great! I can't wait for the next one. Whatever Dana White and Joe Silva have planned for me, I'm ready. I’m ready for whatever comes next.”

Sergio Pettis defeats Chris Cariaso by unanimous decision
Pettis was in control throughout the fight, earning three takedowns and landing more strikes en-route to a 29-27, 29-27, 29-28 unanimous decision victory.
They said it:
Sergio Pettis: “Chris is a great opponent, he’s a Top 10 guy and a veteran and I grew up watching these guys fight when I was in high school. It was a privilege to be in here with him. I hurt him but he was hard to finish. It’s been a great crowd! Houston, thank you for the support!”
Chris Cariaso: “I knew I hadn’t done enough. He knocked me down, I can’t remember if it was the first or second round. But, at the end of the second round I was just trying to recover and I spent too much time on my back. In the third round, I tried to turn it into a grappling match, which is what I should’ve done earlier in the fight. Sergio is a great fighter and he’s a young up-and-comer and it was just hard for me to recover.”

Derrick Lewis defeats Viktor Pesta by TKO
Hometown-boy Lewis started slow in the first round and most of the second – but he took control late in that round and then finished the job by ground-and-pound 1:59 into the 3rd round for his 13th career victory.

Derrick Lewis: “I knew he had good cardio, my cardio isn't that good, but I knew it was better than his. It feels really good to get this win in my hometown. I love this city, thank you Houston. It always feels like first time, so I'll never get comfortable. Today I wanted to wear him out. My corner kept yelling at me to hit him harder, but I just wanted to wear him out.
Coming to Houston from New Orleans was like coming from a totally different country, I have friends that I never had before. My friends in New Orleans were a bad influence, my friends here changed my life. This win is for them and the city I love.”
