Gustafsson thinks he's in Jones' head

Alexander Gustafsson is ready and waiting for the next shot at UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones after Jones' dominating win over Glover Teixeira at UFC 172. Gustafsson thinks he's in Jones' head and expects to finish the champ when they finally meet for the sequel.

Gustafsson lost a close decision in his first fight against Jones in 2013.Jon Jones extended his amazing light heavyweight title defense win streak to seven at UFC 172 with a dominant decision victory on Saturday night over Glover Teixeira, winning every round in the eyes of the judges.

But the No. 1 contender to Jones' light heavyweight title, Alexander Gusafsson, didn't seem too impressed when he appeared on the MMA Hour Monday morning to talk about Jones' performance and a potential rematch with the champ.

"I think he did enough to win the fight," Gustafsson told MMAFighting's Ariel Helwani. "He looked good, he looked great. He was dominating Glover from the beginning, no doubt about it. But I don't know, it looked like he didn't perform like he usually (does). He did enough to win the fight, basically."

Jones had no interest in talking about the looming rematch with Gustafsson after his win against Teixeira. The 205-pound champ was more interested in celebrating the latest victory in an already historic title run.

When asked about a possible rematch with "The Mauler," Jones quickly shot the question down.

"I don't really wanna talk about that kid at all," Jones said. "No, man. I'm having a good time. I just won a fight."

Gustafsson thinks he may be in Jones' head after pushing the champ to the limit in 2013, losing a close decision in what many have dubbed the best fight in the division's history. Gustafsson went as far to say that he thinks he'll finish Jones when the two next step into the octagon to fight.

"I don't think he likes me. That's all I can say," Gustafsson said on the MMA Hour. "It is what it is and one day we will fight. Hopefully that day is soon. ... I think I am in his head now."

In his post-fight media scrum on Saturday night, Dana White said that Gustafsson is indeed next in line, but when the fight will take place is still to be decided.

"We have to make sure (Jon) is 100 percent healthy and he's good, and then we'll time this thing out and plan it," White said. "It's a big fight. It's a big, massive fight. If we do it in Europe this thing can do 50 or 60,000 seats or more. We have to take the fight wherever the fight will do the best."
